GUAVA is launching its GUAVA Member Highlight/Corner, a new professional-sharing initiative designed to showcase the creativity and innovation of our Vietnamese language educators. This event offers a dedicated platform for members to share classroom-tested practices and projects with colleagues worldwide. Mark your calendars for the inaugural session on Friday, October 17, 2025, conducted via Zoom.

- Congratulations to all GUAVA members who presented their work at the recent SEALC Fall 2025 Hybrid Symposium (September 26 - 27, 2025), hosted by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The event brought together about 30 in person and around 90 online participants from institutions across the U.S. and Southeast Asia. Over the two days, the symposium highlighted the creativity and dedication of Southeast Asian language educators as they transformed workshop principles into practical teaching tools, assessments, and research, strengthening our community and improving teaching practices.
- SEALC has been awarded a $1.2 million grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to launch Phase II of its initiative, Toward Sustainable Southeast Asian Language Education: Collaboration, Access, and Capacity Building (2025–2029), led by Dr. Erlin Barnard. Building on Phase I successes, this new phase will expand access through scholarships and online courses, develop new proficiency-based tools and culturally responsive curricula, integrate AI in teaching, and strengthen teacher capacity through collaboration. SEALC warmly invites institutions to partner with SEALC by hosting the upcoming workshops to join SEALC in advancing this important work.
- You are warmly invited to a guest lecture series on Vietnamese language and culture at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice this October. All events are hybrid (on campus & Zoom)
