  • GUAVA recently hosted GUAVA Connect 2025, a workshop that highlighted the intersection of digital technology, heritage preservation, and language education. The event featured a comprehensive presentation by the “Digitizing Vietnam” (Di Sản Số Việt Nam) project team, sparking lively discussions among educators and researchers globally.   • [GUAVA] Contribute to GUAVA Newsletter - Special edition Vol 5 Dec 2025 (pdf/print) Deadline: December 15. The submission can include but is not limited to the following topics or areas: General news; job announcements and career opportunities; teaching resources and practical teaching ideas and innovations; book and multimedia reviews; member highlights and achievements; student success stories etc. We welcome contributions from all members and non-members. We look forward to receiving all news and updates from you, your colleagues or students, and are happy to work with you to create content for the newsletter.   • Registration open for Envisioning Project-Based Language Learning (PBLL) MOOC. This FREE 5-module open-enrollment self-study course is for language educators beginning to learn about Project-Based Language Learning (PBLL). Course open: January 5 - June 30, 2026; A digital badge is available for candidates fulfilling course requirements.
  • Southeast Asian Flagship Languages Initiative (SEAFLI), a special initiative of the Boren Awards for International Study, administered through the University of Wisconsin-Madison offers awardees intensive language study options (Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese) both domestic and abroad. Applications for the 2026-27 cycle are now OPEN! More info: https://seafli.wisc.edu
  • The Vietnam Studies Center (VSC), Fulbright University Vietnam will launch the pilot Summer Program in June–July 2026. The Summer Program will offer a five-week experiential learning opportunity for international students and Vietnamese-heritage students. More info here from the VSC Facebook.
  • Brown University is offering EAST 0655: Savoring History – The Story of Vietnamese Food Across Regions and Time, a six-week hybrid summer course led by Trang Tran (East Asian Studies). Students explore Vietnamese cuisine as a means of memory, identity, resilience, and cultural storytelling. The course is taught in English and has no prerequisites.
  • The 39th Pacific Asia Conference on Language, Information and Computation (PACLIC 39) will be held on December 5-7, 2025, in Hanoi, Vietnam. This 3-day conference is hosted by the Association for the Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing.
