We are excited to share the call for papers for the Venice-Tempe Vietnamese Language Teaching Symposium 2026, taking place virtually on June 28, 2026!
Building on the success of the first two symposia, this event continues to foster an international forum for instructors and researchers working in Vietnamese as a Second and/or Heritage Language. Scholars and practitioners at all career stages are warmly encouraged to submit proposals.
Suggested Themes
The symposium welcomes proposals on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Pedagogical innovations in L2/HL Vietnamese
- Textbook design and evaluation
- Technology in language education
- Cross-cultural competence
- Assessment and proficiency
- Heritage learners and learner profiles
- International collaborations and language maintenance
- Linguistic variation in the classroom and beyond
An Exciting Publication Opportunity
A selected number of presentations will be invited to develop their work into chapters for the proposed edited volume, Southeast Asian Languages on the Move: Teaching, Learning, and Multilingual Life Across Borders and Platforms, intended for submission to Springer Nature (co-edited by Trang Phan and An Sakach). This is a wonderful opportunity to extend your symposium work into a peer-reviewed publication.
Note that the symposium abstract and the chapter proposal are two separate submissions — if you wish to be considered for the edited volume, please submit your chapter proposal separately by email to the editors following the call for chapters guidelines.
