Vietnamese Oral Proficiency Guideline (2021 version)
Proficiency Guidelines for Teaching and Learning Vietnamese (2001 Version)
The purpose of these Proficiency Guidelines is to provide instructors of the Vietnamese language at the college level with standards for a Vietnamese language course at three basic levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.
These guidelines are designed to identify:
- the topics (content) for each level;
- the functions a learner should be able to perform after completing the course;
- the minimum linguistic materials (grammar and usage) that should be covered at each level; and
- the level of accuracy that a learner is expected to achieve at the end of the course, as well as the errors that may occur.
These Proficiency Guidelines are intended for use by Vietnamese language instructors in compiling their curricula, developing teaching materials, and conducting placement tests, achievement tests, and proficiency exams.
