The Boren Awards for International Study

The Southeast Asian Flagship Languages Initiative (SEAFLI), a program of the Boren Awards administered by the University of Wisconsin–Madison, offers U.S. students the opportunity to study Vietnamese through intensive language and cultural immersion. The program includes a full-time summer course at UW–Madison (SEASSI), followed by a fall semester in Hanoi, Vietnam. Participants receive structured language instruction, cultural excursions, homestays, and conversation practice. Applicants may have no prior language experience or advanced proficiency. Completion of both summer and fall programs is required.
