GUAVA Connect 2023, held on November 17 under the theme “Exploring Collaboration: Vietnamese Language Programs in the US and Vietnam,” centered on student collaboration and exchange between Vietnamese language programs in the United States and Vietnam. The event featured distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Nguyen Nam and Dr. Vu Minh Hoang, from the Vietnam Studies Center at Fulbright University Vietnam. Over the course of nearly two hours, 19 Vietnamese language instructors from both the US and Vietnam actively participated in the event.
Dr. Nguyen Nam gave a presentation introducing the Vietnam Studies Center at Fulbright University Vietnam and shared collaborative initiatives with various Vietnamese language programs in the US. Following Dr. Nguyen Nam’s presentation, the two guests and the GUAVA Board engaged with Vietnamese language instructors in lively breakout room discussions. GUAVA Connect 2023 concluded with a Q&A session where participants and guests discussed and explored opportunities for collaboration development between US universities and Fulbright University, along with potential discussions on Vietnamese language summer programs for US students.

On behalf of the GUAVA Executive Board, we extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Nguyen Nam, Dr. Vu Minh Hoang, and all the instructors who contributed to the success of GUAVA Connect 2023. Your invaluable contributions played a crucial role in the success of the event, and we hope that it will lead to many fruitful collaborations between Vietnamese language programs in the US and Vietnam.
