The Faculty of Ethnolinguistics at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU), Poland is seeking an Assistant Professor for its Department for Research on the Languages and Cultures of Taiwan and Vietnam. This is a full-time, research-and-teaching position focused on Vietnamese Studies, with a start date of September 1, 2026.
The Role
The successful candidate will conduct and publish research in Vietnamese linguistics and/or literary studies, deliver courses within the Ethnolinguistics programme (Vietnamese Studies specialisation — 210 teaching hours/year), and contribute to the academic and organizational life of the Department. Collaboration with academic partners in Poland and abroad, and pursuit of research grants, are encouraged.
Requirements
- PhD in Vietnamese linguistics, literary studies, or a closely related field
- Documented research record in Vietnamese Studies
- Teaching experience in Vietnamese language, literature, and/or culture
- Vietnamese: fluent (C1–C2); English: at least B2
- Basic Polish is an asset; willingness to learn Polish is expected
Contract & Salary
Full-time position | Initial one-year fixed-term contract leading to indefinite-term employment | Gross salary: 8,170 PLN/month plus additional AMU benefits including healthcare, pension plan, language learning funding, and more.
